Why Adopt?
Did you know that there are between 6-8 million adoptable dogs and cats that are cared for by shelters each year? Of those, 3-4 million must be euthanized each year because there are not enough responsible homes to care for these wonderful, innocent animals. So the number one reason for adoption is you save a life.
There are reasons to have a pure bred dog. If you want to show your dog, a pure bred dog is the only option. If you are looking for a dog for hunting, working, or herding for example, you cannot teach thousands of years of breeding instinct. But if you are looking for a new family member, there is no difference in the unconditional love or loyalty you will receive from a mixed breed versus a or pure breed companion.
So if you are looking for a new best friend and a bargain to boot, consider adopting from a animal shelter or breed rescue group.
